THE HEARSE STORY
Once upon a time, on a Halloween list far away, there was an email posted for a hearse in Portland, Oregon. Being as I live there, I was ecstatic over this find. Oh what a find this was. $500 and over six months later, I possessed the title to this hearse. We had a lot of work to do when we started but we have a lot more to go.
The hearse was pretty rusted (most of the undercarriage was as thin as onion paper), several brake parts were missing and all in all it looked as if this was an insurmountable job. Do you know how hard it is to find brake parts for a '64 Pontiac Bonneville? Better yet, did you know that Chevrolet pickup brakes can be made to fit a '64 Pontiac Bonneville? I have learned so much during this renovation and I have a long road ahead of me.
One of the interesting stories about this hearse is what we found in it. My husband comes in the house after one of his many times of going through the car to see what doesn't need repairs. He hands me this metal 'thing' and asks, "Is this what I think it is?" I took one look at it and told him that if he thought it was a BONG, he was correct. I have been afraid to look under the dash since he found this.
The Hearse BEFORE any restoration and then AFTER seven days.
