This was taken with the digital camera while in the closet.....hummm
that sounds like the last closet story with the 5 lb ham and the flash
attachment but I digress! I hope this will help everyone with how
they core out their own bucky skulls and FYI we used a 2 1/2" hole saw
attachment on the drill.
I (or should I say my hubby) finally got the scanner working again
after I purposely (yes I do it all the time) crashed the computer.
This should hopefully help anyone who is still having cold feet about carving
or cutting the bucky skull. The one on the right is what you will
see in a regular bucky skull. The cranium on the left is one of the
leftovers from dougie hack that has been marked up for someone to carve
out. You will notice that on the marked skull, only the right
side has a mark for removal because that is where the jaw motor will be
in conflict with the skull. These skulls are thicker than you think
they are. On the right skull you can also see where someone started
taking out the nasal cavity. From what I can tell, it appears that
they were using the hole saw which will help take out a larger amount in
a shorter time than the dremel. The dremel is a good finishing tool.
There really is not much more that I can tell anyone about cutting out
the hole at the base of the skull EXCEPT...
If you would rather mount everything from the top and not cut out the bottom of the skull, that is not a problem either. You will still need to carve out the inside of the skull where the bigger hole would have been and the marked area on the right hand side of the skull. I was a coward on my first skull and it took me 8 hours to cut the hole in the skull because I wanted to be anal about it. Now I just grab the drill with the hole saw and go whole hog on it. Darkness and epoxy can be your best friend!!!!
